1. Acceptance of These Terms
By registering for a Meridian account, clicking "I agree," or using any part of the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you are using the Service on behalf of a business or other entity, you confirm that you have authority to bind that entity, and "you" refers to both you and the entity.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not create an account or use the Service.
2. Definitions
- "Account" means the Meridian wallet account issued to you following successful verification.
- "Partner Bank" means a regulated bank or payment institution that holds customer funds or executes payments on Meridian's behalf.
- "Supported Currency" means a currency Meridian makes available for holding or conversion within the Service, as listed on the platform from time to time.
- "Transaction" means any transfer, conversion, deposit, withdrawal, or payout initiated through the Service.
- "Prohibited Use" has the meaning given in Section 5.3.
- "Business Day" means a day (other than a Saturday, Sunday, or public holiday) on which banks are generally open for business in the relevant jurisdiction.
3. Account Eligibility
To open a Meridian account, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have legal capacity to enter into a binding contract in your country of residence
- Be located in a jurisdiction where Meridian Money is available, as listed on our website
- Not be listed on any sanctions, watch, or prohibited-persons list maintained by a government or regulatory authority with jurisdiction over Meridian or its Partner Banks
- Complete our identity verification process to our satisfaction
Each individual may hold one personal account. Businesses may apply for a business account, which requires additional documentation, including proof of incorporation and identification of beneficial owners and authorized signatories, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may decline to open an account, or may close an existing account, at our reasonable discretion, including where required by a Partner Bank or regulator.
4. Services We Provide
Meridian Money provides a multi-currency wallet that lets you:
- Hold balances in USD, CAD, GBP, and EUR under a single account
- Receive incoming transfers into local account details issued in each supported currency
- Convert between supported currencies at the live mid-market rate, subject to the fee described in Section 6
- Send funds by wire or local rails to bank accounts in supported countries
Meridian is not a bank. We do not hold a banking licence, and your funds do not earn interest unless we expressly say otherwise. Customer funds are held at regulated Partner Banks in segregated accounts, separate from Meridian's own operating funds, in accordance with applicable safeguarding requirements.
4.1 Service availability
We aim to keep the Service available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance, Partner Bank processing windows, and events outside our control (see Section 13, Force Majeure) may affect availability or processing times. Local payment rails may impose their own cut-off times and processing windows that we do not control.
4.2 Transaction limits
We may apply daily, monthly, or per-transaction limits to your account, based on your verification level, risk profile, or requirements imposed by a Partner Bank or regulator. Current limits are shown on the platform and may be adjusted from time to time with notice where required by law.
5. Your Responsibilities
5.1 Accurate information
You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during sign-up and identity verification, and keep it up to date. If any information you have given us changes — including your address, tax residency, or beneficial ownership — you must update it promptly through the platform or by contacting support.
5.2 Account security
You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and any second-factor devices, and for all activity conducted through your account, whether or not authorized by you, except to the extent caused by our fault. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account or a security compromise of your credentials.
5.3 Prohibited uses
You may use Meridian Money only for lawful purposes. Without limiting the foregoing, you must not use the Service for, or to facilitate:
- Money laundering, terrorist financing, or sanctions evasion
- Fraud, identity theft, or any deceptive or misleading practice
- Transactions involving jurisdictions, persons, or entities subject to sanctions administered by any authority with jurisdiction over Meridian or its Partner Banks
- Any activity restricted or prohibited by our Partner Banks' policies, which we will make available on request
- Gambling, unlicensed money services, or the sale of illegal goods or services
- Any attempt to circumvent our transaction limits, verification processes, or fraud controls
We may investigate suspected violations and report them to relevant authorities, and we may suspend or close your account under Section 7 in connection with any Prohibited Use.
6. Fees
Incoming transfers are always free, in every currency we support. The table below summarizes our standard fees; current rates are also shown on the platform before you confirm each transaction.
| Transaction type | Fee |
|---|---|
| Incoming transfer (any supported currency) | Free |
| Currency conversion | 0.4% flat fee on the mid-market rate |
| Outbound transfer (wire or local rails) | 0.4% flat fee on the mid-market rate |
| Account maintenance | No fee |
We do not add hidden spreads to the exchange rate — the rate you see before confirming a transaction is the rate you get, plus the disclosed fee. Partner Banks, correspondent banks, or recipient banks may apply their own fees for certain payment rails, which are outside our control and will be disclosed to you where we are aware of them in advance. We may change our fees from time to time; where a change increases the cost to you, we will give you at least 30 days' notice before it takes effect, consistent with Section 14.
7. Suspension and Termination
7.1 By Meridian
We may suspend or close your account if:
- We are required to do so by law, a regulator, or a Partner Bank
- We detect fraud, a Prohibited Use, or a serious breach of these Terms
- We are unable to verify your identity or updated information to our satisfaction
- We reasonably believe your account poses a risk to Meridian, a Partner Bank, or other users
Where reasonably possible, we will notify you of a suspension or closure and the reason for it, unless doing so would breach a legal or regulatory obligation (for example, an obligation not to "tip off" in connection with a suspicious activity report).
7.2 By you
You may close your account at any time by withdrawing your balance and contacting support. We may require you to complete outstanding verification or resolve any pending transactions before closing your account.
7.3 Effect of closure
In either case, any balance owed to you remains yours, and we will return it to a verified account in your name, less any outstanding fees, within a reasonable time and subject to any legal or regulatory holds that apply, such as those arising from an open investigation.
8. Intellectual Property
Meridian and its licensors own all right, title, and interest in the Service, including our software, trademarks, logos, and content, other than content you provide. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose, subject to these Terms. You must not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the Service, except to the extent applicable law prevents this restriction.
9. Third-Party Services and Partner Banks
The Service relies on Partner Banks, payment networks, and identity-verification providers to function. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of these third parties except to the extent required by applicable law, but we select and monitor our partners with reasonable care. Where a Partner Bank or payment network imposes its own terms on a transaction (for example, a correspondent bank's processing terms), those terms may also apply to that transaction.
10. Representations and Warranties
You represent and warrant that: (a) all information you provide to us is accurate and complete; (b) you will use the Service in compliance with these Terms and all applicable law; (c) you are not using the Service on behalf of a third party unless you have disclosed that relationship to us and completed any additional verification we require; and (d) funds you send through the Service are lawfully obtained.
Except as expressly stated in these Terms, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Meridian is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from your use of the Service, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such losses.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude or limit.
Subject to the foregoing, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the six months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 500.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Meridian, its officers, directors, employees, and Partner Banks harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your violation of applicable law, or your misuse of the Service, except to the extent caused by our own breach of these Terms or negligence.
13. Force Majeure
Neither party is liable for any failure or delay in performance to the extent caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, terrorism, labour disputes, internet or telecommunications failures, acts of government, or failures of a Partner Bank or payment network. The affected party will use reasonable efforts to resume performance as soon as practicable.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continued use of Meridian Money after that date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to a change, you may close your account before it takes effect in accordance with Section 7.2.
15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Wilmington, Delaware, and you and Meridian each consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Before filing a claim, you agree to first contact us at support@getmeridian.online and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. This Section does not limit either party's ability to seek injunctive or equivalent relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property or confidential information.
16. Miscellaneous
16.1 Entire agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any additional terms disclosed to you for a specific feature, constitute the entire agreement between you and Meridian regarding the Service, and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.
16.2 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, or to an affiliate, provided the assignee agrees to honour these Terms.
16.3 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect, and the unenforceable provision will be reformed to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
16.4 No waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
16.5 Notices
We may provide notices to you by email, on the platform message, or posting on our website. Notices to us should be sent to the contact details in Section 17.
